Our brain tends to get smaller as we get older. The technical term for this is “brain atrophy.”
Not surprisingly, brain atrophy correlates with the risk of cognitive decline and dementia. As such, it functions as a useful marker for us to measure - things that reduce atrophy or prevent it altogether should also help us keep our brain performing at its best.
Along those lines, a couple of recent studies on the topic provide some additional insight into the do’s and don’ts of preventing brain shrinkage.

I listened to this discussion all the way through and even though it am not afraid of technical jargon, I have to say that there are no, as in zero, zilch, nada useful takeaways. Maybe because I'm not a scientist?
