We had our first live “ask us anything” session with our subscribers this past Saturday morning. It was a wide ranging conversation and we had a wonderful time.

Below you’ll find the full audio recording from that session. Here’s an overview of the questions we covered:

  • Why did Tommy recently install a SAUNA and COLD PLUNGE, and how does he intend to use them?

  • What are the potential HEALTH BENEFITS of a sauna?

  • Are there specific PROTOCOLS for using a sauna and cold plunge effectively (temperature, frequency, etc.)?

  • What is the MINIMUM EFFECTIVE DOSE for a cold plunge?

  • Can a COLD SHOWER be an alternative to a cold plunge, and how does it compare in terms of effectiveness?

  • Are there general health or cognitive benefits to sauna use beyond what exercise provides?

  • How does RELATIVE ENERGY DEFICIENCY IN SPORT (RED-S) affect the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, brain, or hormones, and is it reversible?

  • What are COMMON CAUSES of RED-S, and what might lead someone into that condition?

  • What are early signs that someone isn't adequately supporting their increased fitness efforts through diet or nutrients?

  • What cues might indicate insufficient support for increased cognitive demands?

  • What are the benefits of CREATINE for cognitive function, especially in older adults, and is it only necessary when lifting weights?

  • Is diet quality more important when someone is less active, and vice versa?

  • What have we changed our minds about in the realm of human health over the years?

  • Does building muscle and increasing physical activity create a buffer against poor diet and other lifestyle factors?
